Urban Carpet / Image Curtain

Multimedia installation at London Architecture Biennale 2006, King's Cross/St Pancras Station, with leit-werk.

The installation encourages the public to engage with the current King's Cross Central development. Designed functionality is replaced by accidental encounter. The Urban Carpet explores communication on an individual level, whereas the Image Curtain addresses a daily audience of up to 10,000 passengers passing by in seconds. The continuously moving pattern, made of scenes extracted from the environment around the stations, immediately captures the attention of the viewer without losing the impact for the closer observer.
